Familiar Care at Home - During Clearly Defined Overnight Hours

For pets who are most comfortable in their own surroundings, Barkley + Miao offers overnight pet and house sitting on a limited basis. This service provides evening and morning pet care, overnight companionship, and basic attention to your home while you are away.

Every overnight request is considered individually based on the dates, location, number of pets, care requirements, household responsibilities, and sitter availability.

Our Overnight Hours Are 8:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M.

Overnight pet sitting is not 24-hour or continuous in-home care.

​

Your sitter will arrive at approximately 8:00 p.m. and depart at approximately 8:00 a.m. The sitter will not remain in your home during the daytime as part of the overnight service.

​

During the day, our team continues caring for other Barkley + Miao clients, attending to our own pets and homes, and managing our normal personal responsibilities. We do not accept arrangements that require a sitter to remain in the home for most of the day or limit the sitter to leaving for only one or two hours.

​

Daytime pet care visits may be requested separately, are subject to availability, and are billed at our standard visit rate. Even when an additional daytime visit is scheduled, the sitter will not remain in the home between scheduled service times.

If your pet cannot be left alone between scheduled visits, requires constant supervision, or needs someone present for the majority of each 24-hour period, our overnight service will not be the appropriate fit.

What Is Included with Overnight Pet Sitting?

Evening and Morning Pet Care for Up to Three Pets

Your pets will receive attentive care during the overnight service window of 8:00pm - 8:00am the following day including:

• Feeding according to their established schedule

• Fresh water

• Dog walks or potty breaks

• Litter box care

• Playtime, affection, and companionship

• Basic cleanup related to your pets

• Morning and evening updates, as arranged

 

All routines and care instructions must be discussed and approved before the booking begins.

Basic Household Care

In addition to caring for your pets, our overnight service may include:

• Watering indoor and outdoor plants according to provided instructions

• Retrieving mail and packages

• Taking trash and recycling bins in or out on scheduled collection days

• Following a requested schedule for lights

• Performing a cursory, nonprofessional check for visible concerns such as dripping faucets, water leaks, or heating and air-conditioning problems

• Keeping the areas used by the sitter reasonably clean and tidy

 

Barkley + Miao is a pet-care provider, not a property management, concierge, housekeeping, home maintenance, repair, or inspection company. Any basic household tasks performed are incidental to the overnight pet-sitting service and are limited to those agreed upon before the reservation begins. Coordinating contractors, supervising household staff, overseeing repairs, managing deliveries, or providing ongoing property monitoring is not included.

Maximum Overnight Stay: Five Nights

Overnight pet and house sitting is limited to a maximum of five consecutive nights per household. We do not accept reservations, extensions, or back-to-back bookings that would require a sitter to remain overnight for more than five consecutive nights.

If your travel plans require more than five nights of overnight care, you will need to arrange an alternative pet-care option for your trip.

Rates and Availability

Rates for overnight pet and house sitting vary based on the number of pets, their care requirements, and the household responsibilities involved.

​

Daytime pet care visits are not included in the overnight rate. Any requested daytime visits are subject to availability and billed separately at our standard visit rate.

​

Overnight pet sitting is a professional service performed in your home. The rate compensates the sitter for their time, responsibility, and commitment to sleeping away from their own home. Staying in a client’s home is a requirement of providing the service and does not replace or reduce the service fee.

​

Overnight availability is limited. All service times, pet care routines, household tasks, and additional daytime visits must be agreed upon in advance. Additional hours, continuous in-home care, and stays exceeding five consecutive nights are not available.

For pets who are comfortable with a traditional overnight schedule, Barkley + Miao provides dependable care, familiar routines, and the comfort of remaining at home while their people are away.
